I love the books and I try to enjoy the show entirely separately. I also usually can’t watch it from week to week. I wait for the entire season to air and then I watch it all at once.

That seems to be my preferred way of enjoying TV series also. I get impatient when I watch an episode and then have to wait a whole week until I can watch another. It’s easier to watch the whole season and then wait a year until the next one.
